Welcome to the !daft! Newsletter for August 2012
I write this today in sticky, energy sapping 30 degree heat, Summer has definitely arrived in the UK after months of cold, dank, dreary weather and frankly, I’m about to keel over!! So as Summer scorches over England’s green and pleasant land it gives me the chance to sit down in the sweat and tell you what’s been happening lately in the !daft! camp. Firstly, it’s been a really great year so far and I am struggling to work out where 8 months of 2012 has already gone. Our “new” drummer Phil has now been with us for over 6 months and is very much part of the team now, in fact he’s everyone’s favourite little munchkin really, always keeping us oldies amused with his crazy 20-something antics. Not only that but as I said at the start of the year he has really done us and himself proud by taking up the drumming role as quickly and competently as he has, I’m sure if you’ve seen him in action you’ll agree.
Thank you also for your continued support of the band, for coming to our gigs and for keeping us busy! We love what we do and it’s always great when you’re there to enjoy it with us! Keep it up and always feel welcome to get in touch if we can help you or if you would like us to do anything for you.
So without further ado let’s fill you in with a few updates!
2013 Diary Almost Full!
We are once again stunned at the rate at which pubs, clubs and private individuals are booking the band, and obviously very grateful too! As of this moment (19th Aug) our 2013 is 85% booked, all our regular venues are in and there are already a handful of weddings and parties in the diary as well – there’s even a double wedding weekend happening as early as March! This is great news but of course it means that if you were interested in booking us for anything next year I would urge to you think about this sooner rather than later. A wedding, a birthday, a festival… anything you think you might want us for get in touch and we’ll pencil it in for you at no cost or inconvenience. We currently have a couple of bookings in for 2014 as well, people are planning far in advance so you may wish to as well!
We will pop our 2013 diary online in the coming weeks as we move towards the end of the year.
We are back at the king of live music venues Smokey Joes, Maidenhead for the !daft!/Smokey’s annual Halloweenfest. Many of you know the score, if not then it involves us, you, a load of spooky live tunes and stunning costumes, make up and decoration! It is THE Halloween party to come to, no other pub or club makes the same effort as Smokey’s and !daft! and we also have Nick Wild and Aimie Flack from Future Photographic on hand to capture all of your gross, gory and sexy outfits! Make sure you plan early and get your costume sorted – the best costumes win prizes!
We are already very busy in December with all weekend dates now booked, however if you are planning to have a company christmas party or general festive celebration and you would like a Christmas party cover band for your event then please get in touch with us as soon as possible! We have some dates available mid week in December and then midweek in January 2013 if you would like to save some money and have your corporate or company Christmas party after Christmas itself.
!daft! are a great choice for Christmas parties, we play all the classic party tracks that you love as well as a bunch of Christmas tracks to add that festive touch to your event. We can cater for thousands of people if required and we are very reasonably priced.
New Years Eve 2012
We are back at the Bier Keller in Bracknell, part of the Coppid Beech Hotel, for our 2012 New Years Eve gig. You may recall we played here for NYE 2010 and had a wonderful night with everyone. It might seem a long way off now but its only 4 months away. We will provide more details in the coming weeks regarding tickets, accommodation deals etc. as soon as we have confirmation from the venue.
Join the !daft! Gig Invitation Group
Are you someone who says to us “Let me know when you’re next playing”? We get asked to do that all the time so what we did is created a group just for you that you can join in order to get gig invites via Facebook directly in your notifications. Just join the group. That’s it. Once done you will receive gig invites which you can respond to or ignore as you see fit, but at least you’ll know when and where the gig is! You can of course leave at any time.
Gigs over the next month or so include:
Thanks very much for reading our news! We hope to see you at a gig soon!
