New Gig Text Message Service & Nick's Off To India!

Hey all, here are a couple of quick updates from !daft!

Gig Text Message Alerts
We are pleased to be able to offer to you a gig alert system via text message. You can subscribe to receive alerts of our gigs at your favourite venues by texting GIGS DAFT [Venue Code] to 82085. The most commonly played venues for us right now, and their codes, are:

The Rising Sun, Slough - RISING 14
The Old Ticket Hall, Windsor - TICKET 1
O' Neill's, Woking - ONEILL 24
O' Neill's, Watford - ONEILL 1
The Camphill Club - CAMPHILL 2
Abbeymoor Golf Club - ABBEYMOOR 1
The White Horse, Maidenhead - WHITE 87
The Bier Keller, Bracknell - BIER 2

So for example, if you live Windsor and would like to know when we are gigging at The Old Ticket Hall, Windsor you would text: GIGS DAFT TICKET 1 to 82085. It's that easy! You will then receive a text message 2 weeks before the gig to inform you of the event. Sorted!

You can subscribe to as many venues as you wish and bear in mind we only play a venue a maximum of 4 times in one year so you will not be inundated with messages. You will only get the alerts that you specifically subscribe to. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Full details of the service are here www.daftonline.co.uk/gigtxtalerts

Gig alerts cost 25p to receive, min. £1. No fees are received by the band.

Nick's Off To India!
Sometimes in this game, the old day job gets in the way a bit!! (Just kidding boss!!;o)) Nick's company are sending him to India for around 3 months to head up the training and development of staff in a new facility and we are of course delighted he has been given such a great opportunity and we wish him lots of luck, but it does impact on gigs slightly.

On Friday July 11th at the White Horse, Maidenhead Dave Jenkins will be playing bass in Nick's absence. Dave is a long time friend of ours and a great bass player. All other gigs until late 2008 will be covered by Chris McNally, another great friend of ours and accomplished player. We are thankful to both Chris and Dave for helping us out, we will miss Nick a great deal but we are also pleased to have such great musicians joining us to cover the role. As of this moment no gigs are cancelled as a result of Nick's leave of absence.

So that's really about it for now, there are a few more bits but I'll save them till later so this doesnt go on tooo long!

Lastly, we really appreciate people helping spread the word, please do become a fan of !daft!'s here www.facebook.com/pages/daft/19358626648, it really does mean a lot to us if you do!

Thank you for your continued support, we hope to see you at a gig soon!

Cheers,

Graeme

Rising Sun gig, 14th June is CANCELLED!

Unfortunately we have had to cancel our gig at the Rising Sun, Slough on Saturday 14th June. This is due to circumstances beyond our control mainly centered around our drummer's health and our reserve drummer's availability. In addition due to our extensive gigging schedule at the moment we are unable to offer an alternative date or straight swap with another band, I've tried everything!!

We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience, I know many of you were planning to meet us down there and we always look forward to Rising Sun gigs.

We hope you will be able to join us for the next public gigs after that which are :

A Concert For Linda - Saturday, June 28 at 7pm (45 min slot)
or
O' Neill's, Woking, Friday July 4 at 10:30pm

Kind regards,

Graeme

Welcome Daniel Raw!

On behalf of !daft! guitarist Phil, I am delighted to announce the arrival of baby Daniel Raw born 4th May 2008. Daniel is Phil and Elaine's first addition to the family and we understand Phil will be taking Daniel to his first Iron Maiden concert tonight. Ok, that's not true really ;o) Everyone is doing fine and well, so from the !daft! lads and lasses, many congratulations to Phil and Elaine!

Hence we take a few weeks break from gigging now to allow Phil and Elaine to focus on Daniel. Next scheduled public gig is Saturday 14th June and the Rising Sun, Slough. We look forward to seeing you there! See all gigs.

If you would like to send Phil a congratulatory note, you can find his facebook profile here.

Cheers!

Kensington Gig Postponed

Just a quickie. Based on complications around licensing we have had to postpone the gig planned for the Kensington Close Hotel on Saturday 22nd March. We are very sorry for any inconvenience. We are working with the Kensington Close Hotel management team to iron out some issues which when achieved will hopefully allow us to reschedule the date, we are all still very keen to put on some live music there.

Apologies once more, but please consider this gig postponed.

Graeme.

!daft! drummer Darren too numb to drum!

This week it was confirmed that our beloved drummer will be out of action for up to 8 weeks as a result of ongoing back troubles. Darren has been forced over the past few months to undergo extensive therapy sessions and an MRI scan in an effort to find out what has been causing intense pain in his leg and lower back region and it was confirmed this week that he is suffering with 2 prolapsed discs in the lower spine.

Under doctors orders he has been made to step away from the drumkit for up to two months to allow medication and treatments to take effect and for a recovery process to begin and successfully conclude, and during this time the !daft! fellas and I would like to wish him a speedy and pain free recovery. If you have any well wishing messages to send to Darren please do so at
darren@daftonline.co.uk.

So how does this impact the band?

Well firstly it means we are going to miss him greatly at every gig, but contracts are there to be honoured and all gig dates will be fulfilled, so please do not worry if you have a booking with us.

We are extremely lucky to have a exceptional friend and drummer in Matt Siddall who will be filling in for Darren for the course of the recovery. Matt is actually !daft!'s original drummer from the late 90's and early 2000's, leaving !daft! when he did to pursue a career with the massively successful 80's tribute group The Rubiks Band and local friends and party band Jamie and The First Class. He has played many hundreds of gigs at numerous exclusive venues from Old Trafford to Cardiff Arena as well as international work. He is also my best mate and was best man at my wedding!

Matt is extremely familiar with our set list already, having now completed 3 gigs with us in Darren's absence, and will be with us till at least April while Darren returns to full health.

All the best to Darren, may you come to drum soon son, and a warm welcome to Matt.

Great news for 2008!

Hey folks, and firstly a belated Happy New Year to you all, especially all our great friends we have seen and made at gigs during 2007!

I just wanted to take a few moments to give you an update on our activities of late and tell you a bit about what 2008 is already holding for us, it's looking really good! We could not have had a more fun and enjoyable year on the band front in 2007, and believe me when I say its because of you guys. It totally makes our night each time you react the way you do, the way you party and support us, so thank you. Keep it up though, 2008 is gonna be a biggun!!

Lets start with a quick gig summary. We were chuffed to start doing a few O'Neill's gigs last year, and long may this continue, they're a great place to play! We are looking at some more of the bigger pubs and clubs as well now, so if you know anywhere that might be good for us to play, please let me know at
graeme@daftonline.co.uk.

The Kensington Close Hotel & Spa, London
I am however delighted to announce that we have teamed up with the
Kensington Close Hotel & Spa, London to do a few gigs with them. We are really excited with this opportunity and cannot wait for the gigs to come around. I will send out confirmed dates in the coming days.

The Keller, Bracknell
We are also delighted to be doing a first gig with The Keller, a club which forms part of the Coppid Beech Hotel in Bracknell. We have wanted to play here for years and finally got something sorted for Saturday 26th January, so if you can make it along to a proper bar in a proper hotel for a proper dance and drink, then we'd love to see you! T'will be a laugh!!

There's loads more to tell you, but I'll leave it there for now and send some more updates in a few weeks. Wishing all the best for 2008, have a great year, and better still, have it with us!!

Next Gigs:
Friday 18th January - The White Horse, Maidenhead
Saturday 26th January - The Kellar, Coppid Beech Hotel, Bracknell
See all gigs...

Cheers!
